Frequently Asked Questions

What information do I need to book a lesson?

Your name, contact number, postcode and a rough idea of your availability. If you already have a provisional licence, that is great, but you do not need it to make an initial enquiry.

Same day, where possible, and almost always within 24 hours. If you call and reach voicemail, please leave a message, and I will return your call between lessons.

Do I need a provisional licence before my first lesson?

Yes, you need a valid UK provisional licence to drive on the public road, including for lessons. If you have not applied yet, you can do that on the GOV.UK website; it usually takes a couple of weeks..

How do I pay for lessons?

Bank transfer is preferred for block bookings; cash and card are accepted for individual lessons. I will explain the options when we book.

What can I expect in my first lesson

On your first lesson with me, you can expect a relaxed, structured introduction:

  • A pickup from your home, college or workplace at the agreed time
  • A short chat about your previous experience and confidence levels
  • A full walk-through of the controls of the electric automatic car
  • Driving practice in a quiet area, at a pace that suits you
  • A short debrief with a clear plan for your next lesson

You do not need to do anything to prepare beyond reading the basics of the Highway Code and bringing your provisional licence. I will provide the car, the dual controls and everything else.

Do you offer gift vouchers?

Yes. Block-booking driving lessons make a great gift for anyone working towards their licence. Get in touch and I can sort the details with you.

Can I switch from another driving school?

Yes, and many of my pupils do. Bring along any progress notes you have from your previous instructor and we will pick up where you left off.
